Bev
Hahn's songwriting contemplates the issues of every day
life--Relationships, personal growth, searching, growing up
growing old, and songs that tell the stories of others whose paths
she has crossed. She compares her songwriting process to that of
making a quilt. Over the years she has listened to many stories
and had the opportunity to work with people from varied walks of
life. She brings these experiences into her song writing,
creating songs that appeal to a broad audience.
Born in Rockford,
Illinois, the child of German immigrants, and the youngest of
three daughters. Hahn has spent the majority of her life in
Southwestern Michigan. Though her parents were not fans of
American music, they were fans of being independent thinkers and
pushed their daughters to look for their gifts and use them.
At the age of thirteen, Hahn acquired her first guitar. Since the
majority of the music allowed at home was classical, Hahn took to
creating her own music from the very start. Self-taught on the
instrument, she continues to find this the most fulfilling aspect
of her career.
Hahn's
ability to sing various styles of music allowed her to cross
paths with her current partner,
Dan Geib flat picker extraordinaire of the
Art Gomperz band. Bev & Dan have formed an alliance that
combines Bev's strong vocals with Dan's exemplary gifts on guitar.
The duo performs a wide range of eclectic material, pulling form a
wide variety of styles which include Hahn's original compositions.
